Shutter Island Soars at Box Office

Shutter Island which was pulled out of the fall release in 2009 arrived in theaters on Friday and was No. 1 at the North American box office.

Fall of 2009 this R-rated feature was pulled from release by a cost cutting Paramount pictures. Hollywood was surprised at the delay especially since the director was the one and only Martin Scorsese.

Paramount studio says they simply couldn't afford to realese the movie in the fourth quarter because of an industry wide decline in DVD sales, among other financial concerns.

Scorsese nor Leonardo Decaprio, the films main character, has had an opening this big in quite a while. In fact its been eight years since Decaprio's "Catch me if you Can", his previously biggest open.

I saw the film this weekend and was absolutely amazed. There are no words to describe how amazing this film was. Scorsese keeps you on edge and thinking the entire time. I felt as if I was in the movie itself, which if you see it you will realize is a little scary. Amazing reviews for an amazing movie. I can't wait to see where it stands as far as awards for 2010 go.

The Claim: 3-D Movies Can Induce Headaches and Sickness

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/09/health/09really.html?ref=movies

Many viewers have complained that the 3-D films such as the box office hit "Avatar" causes them to have headaches, nausea, blurred vision and other symptoms such as motion sickness.

Studies have indicated that the cause of this is unnatural eye movement.

Some experts say that one way to avoid this is to focus on only the parts of the screen that are completely in focus.

My honest opinion is this: people always find something to complain about. It clearly says in the warning label that it could cause motion sickness. Why would you go see it knowing this and then complain. People never cease to amaze me.

Oprah's show about her show

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/02/business/media/02oprah.html?ref=television

Oprah will still be hosting her regular talk show but is now also starring in her own reality show; "Behind the Scenes: Oprah's 25th season".

This new show will prohibit her from appearing on similiar shows that air on the OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) until the show ends in September of 2011.

In this new reality show we will see Oprah behind the scenes. What she does to prepare for her shows and what she does with her spare time.

It is sad that this show has been wanted by audiences for years now but OWN thought this was the most appropriate time to complete their viewers request.

This is such an amazing thing OWN is dong. Oprah is one of the few people on television that portrays a positive atmosphere. She has done so much for women and men all over the world and this is one of the few Reality TV shows I will actually be interested in.

We have so many trashy reality shows that are horrible influences on today's society. So much of what is on reality shows today is extremely negative and teaches kids as well as young teens and even young adults aweful ways to conduct their lives.

Finally someone got it right and is producing a show that will have what I believe will be a positive influence on society.
